We're all behind you?

So.....the tory party conference has just happened in Manchester!
Today Boris Johnson has said that they.....the rest of the cabinet.......were "all behind her".
Now, I'm not a fan, but.....this quote sounds sinister to me....as....if you're behind someone, you're in a perfect position to stab them in the back.

I think that I'll just leave that thought with you.

In and around sunny Morecambe this weekend.

So.....what is happening this weekend in sunny Morecambe?  (Okay, it's not sunny at the moment, but at least the rain has stopped now.)
There's a local friendly football match, or warm up match.  It's Morecambe versus Lancaster City, they're not in the same league, but the takings are going to two local charities, it's not just football, there's a "fun" day going on too. There's the West End Festival in Regent Park, but I expect that the rain might have put a damper on it.  There's Modfest, with a SKA line up at the Winter Gardens tonight.  Viking festival in Heysham over the weekend, AND......... Jump Rush has opened behind the Winter Gardens today.
All great stuff, but why didn't they publicise the opening of Jump Rush more?
Now......I hear you all asking what Jump Rush is?
It's an indoor trampoline park.  Although when I walked past earlier, there seemed to be plenty of people going in and out, so maybe it was publicised in local schools.
Anyway, it looks like Morecambe is looking up.

Live in Hope

When I was young my parents had a saying, if all looked bleak.  "Well, we can always live in hope."
To many people this is just a phrase, but if you live in a certain part of the country, it has a wry twist to it.....as not far from where we lived there were at least two villages called Hope, and I imagined that we would move there to live and everything would be okay for the rest of our lives.

The first step!

To be an established writer, you need to write.  Regularly, daily and if at all possible, hit a target number of words.

Well, I don't know how many copies of my poetry have sold, other than two.....and one of those was to my daughter.
Why didn't she read the poems sooner, I hear you ask?
Because some of them deal with how I was feeling as an adult, and she as a child -then- might not understand my viewpoint.
The upshot of this musing is that I must try to write more often.....and with the warmer weather conditions approaching, I just might have the inspiration a few yards from my door.

Stupid questions

Why do reporters ask stupid questions?
On the local news the reporter asked Jeremy Corbyn if he was expecting any more surprise resignations......
***Hands reporter a dictionary opened at Su***
Surprise, in short means that the event, action, etc, is NOT anticipated......so if Jeremy Corbyn knew of any more proposed resignations, they would by definition not be surprise resignations!
How do they get these jobs? And how do they keep them when they ask such stupid questions?

Plans/targets/aims for 2017

If you follow my blog, you'll know that I don't make resolutions, as they are soon broken.  I like to set myself targets/aims, or make plans for the coming year.

This year one of my targets is to gain employment in some shape or form.
Another is to try to ease myself back into writing regularly, last year, I Kindle published a collection of poetry, that used different skills, as I had to prepare the poetry in the correct format.
Trying out different recipes is another that is a regular, but with so many recipes, it's always nice to give something different a try.

I must try to gather presents for Christmas throughout the year, and wrap as I go along, keeping a list of bought presents.

Reading goes without question.

Again this year, try to read a translated book, a classic, a Shakespeare play, and something that I wouldn't normally read.
I think the last, I am probably doing now, as the book I am reading is a romantic type, but not in the normal sense of the word.  In this book the main character is in a new location, she's falling in love with the surroundings, more than a person, and some of her previous preconceptions are being brought into question and either being reconsidered, or discarded.  An interesting book, but not what I usually read, and the strange thing is Angel Raphael features quite strongly in it.

I must also find time to put the various craft ideas brewing in my head, into action.
