OK...my solution only works for certain people...but why not walk to work? If you live within a couple of miles of your workplace...walking could be the answer!
In doing this you are not only ensuring you will get to work, but you are also reducing your carbon footprint, AND saving your self money. Plus...walking at a brisk pace is good for your heart.
Therefore, all in all, walking is a very good solution to the people who live within walking distance of their workplace.
By the way, if it would take you longer than an hour to walk from home to work...this solution is not viable, and I would catch a bus if they are running

Ignorant people
Some people have a high media profile, and forget to thank the little people.
This is a statement from a "little People" to a "high-ish media person".
I know you have passed on now, but why couldn't you acknowledge a gift sent to you as an act of friendliness? I couldn't be a donor..am too old..but thought the gift might be appropriate.
I'll know in future to ignore high profile "terminally ill people"
After all, even if your life span is limited, your ability to say thank you for gifts should not be

New BP pills
Just before Xmas I was told my blood pressure was too high and I had to monitor it for a month then return to the doctor. Well, after just a week monitoring it, it was obvious to me that the high readings weren't just "white coat syndrome", but it was up overall.
On Monday I visited the doctor and he changed my BP pills. AT first I thought they weren't working but today I woke up feeling very faint, with a sore throat. So, I'm not at work. I've taken my BP and it seems to be on it's way down. So perhaps they just needed to stabilise my BP, before they could start bringing it down. I have felt dreadful since the tablets were changed, and did this morning, still feel faint now, but it is dropping. Hurrah!

Fog
It's been foggy all day here. And now it is thickening again. It always surprises me how many loonies there are driving around in Fog. They usually have white, grey, silver or black cars, and think it isn't necessary to put their lights on, and you can't see their damned cars until they are almost on top of you.
I decided not to drive today, as what I wanted from the shop could be carried in my rucksack. After all, it doesn't matter how careful you are, if there are idiots driving around with no lights on. Accidents are much more likely to happen.

New car, well, new to me
I've collected my new, to me, car today.
I've called her Aurora Rover, as she is a Rover 25 impression, and very pretty. Smaller engine than Midori MG ZR, and petrol rather than diesel so is 6 insurance groups lower. Samantha bought Midori off me, as she has a 90 mile round trip each day to work.
I like driving, but as my ankle is slowly but surely collapsing again, the diesel car was a little heavy on the clutch for me.

Resolutions?
Have you made any?
Nah! Me neither.
What I think I will do is make decisions to try to do certain things.
One nearly everyone decides upon is to lose weight at this time of year. I'm not going to go on a silly drastic weight loss diet, that as soon as I stop the weight will pile back on, no, I'm just going to pick healthier food, and try not to comfort eat.
I love reading, so I think I might try to read at least one "classic" book this year.
I'm also going to try to make serious dents in my fabric and wool stash, even trying not to buy any of either, for at least the first six months of the year.
There's a patchwork quilt I have all the fabric for and started, but ground to a stop, make a bit more of that up, perhaps even finish it might be a goal, but definitely do some more.
I've long thought I would like to do some entrelac knitting, go that can go on my list.
I'm enjoying making my own bread, and like the varieties I can create, so that can join the list, too.
Try to tidy up my pot garden, get rid of weeds, etc.
This one is probably a necessity. I think the kitchen is long overdue a re-paint. Peach/apricot I think, with white wood work, and try to get a kitchen door.
There, I don't think those goals are too bad, they are achievable, and require me spending time doing things, which will keep me distracted from being on my own.
I'd love 2013 to bring along a "Mr Right", but I'm not holding my breath.

2012!
Started pretty innocuously.
Nothing much doing.
Then February came around...Aunty Sylvia, Mum's twin came over to UK, from France, as it was cousin David's 50th. She had heart problems and was admitted to Blackpool Vic .
My Dad died, the day before Oliver's 23rd birthday.
Baby, Amelia May Hooson was born....on time..a first for a Hooson, on 2nd March 2012. Just a few minutes before Dad's funeral.
April, Ann was 50.
May, not much.
June, Samantha was 25.
July..again nothing much here, but Olympics started.
August, same as July.
September, Edwin left for Carlisle to study/read illustration. First time properly, I was left alone or more than 24 hours.
October, Mum's first birthday without Dad around, plus Ofsted in at work.
November...just flew by.
December...at least I saw Oliver and Edwin over the festive season.
Nothing much doing.
